Mission Critical Partners to upgrade Philadelphia's first responder communication system, prepare city for Next-Gen 911

Murray

STATE COLLEGE, PA July 5, 2017 Mission Critical Partners, Inc. (MCP) has been selected to provide public safety technology and facility consulting services to the City of Philadelphia, which recently kicked off multi-year initiative to evolve its 911 infrastructure and facilities.

The project will bring significantly enhanced first responder communications to Philadelphia and prepare the city's communications technology and facilities for Next Generation 911 (NG911), a broadband-enabled, IP-based system that allows 911 to keep pace with the communication technology used by the public. It also will bring additional enhancements to the City's 911 center facility and computer-aided dispatch system, as well as a new text-to-911 capability.

MCP will provide 911 management and consulting services to the city regarding its mission-critical communications, including the following tasks:

  • Deploying a regional Emergency Services Internet Protocol Network (ESInet)
  • Assessing the city's land mobile radio (LMR) system assets and contract management
  • Planning and programming for a new, modern 911 center
  • Communications technology procurement support
  • Assistance deploying text-to-911 service.

"We support Philadelphia's vision of evolving its emergency communications network, technology and facilities to deliver the highest level of service to the city's first responders and the public," said Kevin Murray, MCP's president and CEO. "Because our expertise spans all aspects of mission-critical communications, our cross-functional teams will contribute significantly to a successful project for the city."

Philadelphia operates the busiest public safety answering point (PSAP) in Pennsylvania, receiving approximately 3 million 911 calls annually, one-third of 911 calls statewide.
