KNOXVILLE, TN March 22, 2017 EDGE2017, a national cybersecurity conference aimed at addressing complex business security problems with real-world solutions, is now accepting proposals for speakers for their 2-day event taking place in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Oct. 17-18 at the Knoxville Convention Center.

Presented by Sword & Shield Enterprise Security, EDGE2017 is the second year of the EDGE Security Conference. EDGE2017 combines engaging keynotes from world-renowned visionaries, recognized technology industry leaders, topical roundtables, training sessions, and industry-specific tracks.

Presentations and roundtable discussions that address the following current topics from a cybersecurity or compliance perspective are highly desired:

  • Risk Mitigation
  • The Role of Geopolitics and Relevant Legislation
  • Security Analytics
  • Insider Threats
  • Technology Disruptors
  • Emerging Threats
  • Leading EDGE threats
  • Security Best Practice

Topics may be submitted that are not specifically listed above but fall within the broad categories.

"Our theme for this year's conference is Shift Forward," said Raymond Kahre, EDGE2017 event director and vice president of Sword & Shield Federal. "We are seeking presentations about the current challenges and emerging trends in cybersecurity and regulatory compliance. Specifically, we're interested in those experts who are moving beyond simply talking about cybersecurity problems and instead focusing on action that is working towards or producing results that can be used in real business scenarios."

Dr. Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek, renowned "white hat" hackers and senior security leaders at Uber's Advanced Technologies, as well as Maj. Gen. Brett T. Williams, the director of operations at U.S. Cyber Command from 2012-2014 and current president of the Operations and Training Division of IronNet Cybersecurity, Inc., will be keynote speakers for EDGE2017.

"Ultimately, we want to provide a national conference that keeps the focus of cybersecurity at the forefront of businesses going forward," said John McNeely, president and CEO of Sword & Shield Enterprise Security, the company that's presenting EDGE2017. "There are cybersecurity threats that every company, regardless of industry, should be aware of and prepared for. Having the ability to address these threats with real, actionable tactics is important to keep business running smoothly."

Each presentation slot will be 50 minutes. Presentations should be about 40 minutes, allowing 10 minutes for Q&A. Proposal submissions will be selected in a competitive peer-review process.

Those interested in submitting should visit https://edgesecurityconference.com/call-for-speakers/, or send their name, topic, and abstract to [email protected] by April 21, 2017 in order to be considered.

Invited speakers will be notified beginning the week of May 24, 2017.
