ASSA ABLOY brands begin selling latest line of bullet-resistant doors

NEW HAVEN, CT Jan. 26, 2017 ASSA ABLOY hollow metal door brands Ceco Door, Curries, and Fleming now offer Forced Entry Bullet Resistant Assemblies (FEBR), designed to resist an intense, prolonged attack by one or more intruders. This door, frame and hardware assembly is intended for applications where the highest level of protection and durability is required. It can repel a 15-minute mob attack and has level 8 bullet resistance, providing the utmost life-safety protection for occupants in the room.

"Securing military and government buildings, embassies, banks, control, data and safe rooms takes a specialized approach in how we build openings," said Howard Schrier, director of specialty products, ASSA ABLOY Door Group. "When developing the Forced Entry Bullet Resistant Assembly, we followed stringent U.S. Department of State security requirements, designed unique structural features into the doors and frames, then built them using only top quality components for extreme strength and durability."

In independent testing, the complete FEBR opening meets UL752 Level 8 ballistic core requirements, is GSA approved and meets U.S. government, military, and embassy life-safety and security objectives. It can defeat multiple impacts of 5.56 M 193, 5.56 M855 and 7.62 M80 ballistic rounds as defined by U.S. government standards. See the FEBR assembly in action in this video, where it surpasses third party testing.

Standard features for 3'0"x7'0" openings include:

  • UL752 Level 8 bullet resistant extra heavy duty door with continuous welded vertical edge seams
  • UL752 Level 8 bullet resistant fully-welded extra heavy duty frame
  • Factory-installed hardware for correct operation and functionality – FEBR 3-point locking exit device and Pemko stainless steel continuous hinge with security studs
  • Stainless steel threshold

The FEBR door assembly conforms to U.S. Department of State forced-entry and ballistic resistant threat levels plus antiterrorism level security and is offered with a five year factory warranty.
