Sharp unmanned vehicle earns 2016 technology innovation honor

MAHWAH, NJ Dec. 12, 2016 Each year, technology editors from Security Sales & Integration Magazine handpick what they believe to be the security industry’s most unique collection of products and solutions for integrators to offer their customers as problem-solvers. When the “Top 30 Technology Innovations of 2016” were announced on December 6th, the Sharp INTELLOS Automated Unmanned Ground Vehicle was among the winners.

The Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV made its debut in September 2016 and sales orders are being taken now for 2017 customer deliveries. This revolutionary robotic technology solution from Sharp is a cost-effective, multi-terrain, mobile sensor platform that can capture video, audio and environmental data, while providing a visible deterrent. As it operates an outdoor property patrol, the data it collects can enhance surveillance, security, safety and maintenance inspections to extend the monitoring and presence of an organization’s security force.

Mike Kobelin, a 30+ year veteran of the security industry and National Sales Director for the Sharp Robotics Business Division, stated that, “We at Sharp are honored that our new Sharp INTELLOS Automated Unmanned Ground Vehicle has been recognized as one of the best new products in the security industry for 2016. Extensive market research told us (Sharp) that large end-users and their security integrators are looking for innovative ways to enhance and extend outdoor security and safety to the furthest boundaries of their perimeter. Now, without the exorbitant cost of wiring infrastructure, Sharp’s A-UGV can provide this groundbreaking solution.”

As SSI points out, the Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV “will change the security guard business as we know it.” It is not intended for indoor use, yet is well suited for large, expansive outdoor properties, such as those for manufacturing, distribution, and data centers to name a few.
