As Democrats open convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania officials activate emergency response center
HARRISBURG, PA July 25, 2016 The Commonwealth Response Coordination Center (CRCC) at the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency in Harrisburg began operations at 8 a.m. this morning to monitor events associated with the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
"We've been working with local, state and federal partners for several months to plan for this event," said PEMA Director Richard D. Flinn Jr. "We will be ready to provide whatever assistance is needed to Philadelphia in support of their response activities throughout the week."
Flinn said the activation includes the following agencies: PA State Police; Governor's Office of Homeland Security; and the departments of Health, Human Services, Military and Veterans Affairs, Transportation, Environmental Protection and Labor & Industry. Other agencies may report to the CRCC as needed.
PEMA and other state agencies have deployed personnel to Philadelphia to support operations there and to provide the state with increased situational awareness during the DNC.
