Deadline for entries in Homeland Security Awards extended to October 23
2010 Keynote Speaker: Ret. 4-Star General Barry McCaffrey
GSN announced today that in response to a number of requests to stretch the closing date for entries in its 2015 Homeland Security Awards Program, the deadline has been extended to Friday, October 23. At the same time, according to GSN Publisher Mike Madsen, the date for announcements of Finalists has been moved to Friday, October 30, and arrangements are being made for a Gala Awards Dinner in Washington, DC on December 1.
GSN hosted its first Awards Dinner in 2009 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, in partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police, complete with bagpipes and kilts. The keynote speaker and honoree at the event was Fran Townsend, former Homeland Security adviser to President George W. Bush and frequent expert guest on major television networks. In the 2010 event at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, DC, 4-Star General Barry McCaffrey (Ret) held the audience of Finalists and Winners in total silence as he recounted the history of the Department of Homeland Security from 9/11 to 2010. And in 2011, The GSN/Raytheon Award was presented to Coast Guard Commandant for his many years of service, including coming out of retirement twice to serve his country first in Hurricane Katrina, and secondly, in the BP Oil Spill.
Once again, the Awards Program covers three major categories:
- Outstanding developers and vendors of IT Security products and solutions;
- Outstanding developers and vendors of Physical Security Products; and
- Outstanding Government Security Programs, Projects and Initiative.
There is no charge for government agencies, according to Mike Madsen, and vendors to government agencies are welcome to nominate deserving agencies that they have worked with. Madsen also pointed out that prime sponsorships are still available for the Awards Dinner, in which new Sponsors can join a list of some of the most prominent companies in the world, including Agiliance, Inc., Arcsight (now part of HP), BIG Enterprises, BRS Labs, Cisco Systems, Entrust (Now Entrust Datacard), General Dynamics, Motorola, Mutualink, Quantum Secure, Raytheon, Redseal, Terradata, Vanguard Integrity Professions and many others. Executives interested in being a Sponsor should contact GSN Publisher Madsen at 732-233-8119 or [email protected]
