GSN to publish six of the most uplifting winning entries in the 2015 Airport, Seaport, Border Security Awards over the next week

One of the great treats we have as publishers of our two awards programs is the pleasure of reading about some of the great accomplishments in the homeland security field, as they are described in winning entries. So as we put the finishing touches on the 2015 Digital Yearbook of Airport, Seaport, Border Security Awards, which will be released next week, and we add new categories and updates that have been recommended for the annual Homeland Security Awards, which will open for entries on Wednesday, August 5, we’d like to share six of the Airport, Seaport, Border Security awards winning entries that we found to be exceptionally interesting and often inspirational in this industry that is all about keeping our country and other countries’ people, property and homelands safe and secure. We will publish one selection each day for the next six days, starting tomorrow with:

The magnificent achievement of HID Global and its partner from Luanda, DGM Sistemas LDA over the past seven years in developing a world-class National ID Card Program for the country of Angola, which now reaches more than six million citizens and enables Angolan cardholders to carry IDs as advanced as those found anywhere else in the world.

Others to follow include a dramatic Search and Rescue in which the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Polar Star saved the lives of 27 people who were stranded on the fishing vessel Antarctic Chieftan, which was trapped in 12-15 feet of ice 900 miles from McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. And four more still to come that are similarly interesting and uplifting.

Once again, the 2015 Digital Yearbook of Airport, Seaport, Border Security Awards will be coming out in in a week, and the GSN annual Homeland Security Awards Program is scheduled to open up for entries, with a number of new entry categories, on Wednesday, August 5.
