Apprio awarded $20M training contract with FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness
Washington, D.C.-based Apprio, a provider of technology solutions, particularly for the health, defense, and homeland security markets, has announced it received a new contract with the DHS’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) worth as much as $20 million over five years. The base year of the contract totals $3.75 million, with an additional four option years.
Apprio will provide expert consulting services to FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness, which is a national training facility located in Anniston, AL. The Center prepares state and local emergency response personnel to respond to all hazards -- including terrorist attacks using weapons of mass destruction -- by providing advanced, hands-on training.
This national training program was developed for state, local, tribal, federal, private sector and international responders from fire service, law enforcement, emergency medical services, emergency management, hazmat, public health, healthcare, public communications, public works and government administrative and other emergency response personnel.
According to Darryl F. Britt, Apprio’s president and founder, “Apprio will work hand-in-hand with FEMA to promote effective training and awareness for emergency response. We’ve been operating in this field for many years, and the difference between a successful response and a catastrophe often is training. We look forward to helping FEMA fill out its training materials and courses to further bolster nationwide emergency response at the federal, state and local levels.”
Apprio will perform a full range of training support services, including, but not limited to: administrative registration support, travel arrangements (air and ground), scheduling of transportation, classroom setup and training support materials, outreach programs, planning for support activities, coordination with other Center for Disaster Preparedness functional areas and contractors, record maintenance, record analysis, and quality control.
Apprio provides innovative IT and program services in healthcare IT, emergency response management and financial management. It delivers the methodologies, discipline and thought-leadership provided by the large integrators, with the cost structure and collaboration offered by smaller firms.
The company built the federal government’s Disaster Medical Information Suite, an electronic health record and situational awareness solution used to manage medical care during federal disasters and designated national security events such as the Gulf Oil Spill, Haiti Earthquake, and Hurricane Ike.
