Mail1Click offers free encrypted e-mail for people and businesses

Mail1Click, from Dubai-based Kryptotel, is offering a free, cross-platform e-mail solution for individuals and businesses that the company says is near hack-proof. It also offers both a Web utility and a downloadable application for Android, iOS, and Windows operating systems.

Mail1Click relies on extremely strong 4096-bit encryption. “Security experts say it would take the combined, round-the-clock efforts of every [central processing unit] on Earth thousands of years to crack this level of data security.” Encryption can help protect people and businesses from privacy threats from governments, other organizations, and hackers. The solution can also protect online shoppers, according to the company, helping to safeguard financial and other personally identifiable information.

The encryption, decryption, and electronic signature functions all take place "behind the scenes" so no technical knowledge is required. That said, users should remember their passwords, as the service has no password recovery option.

With a premium subscription, businesses and individuals can attach a domain name to e-mail addresses and gain up to 10 gigabytes of inbox space, compared to 25 megabytes of storage with the free service. Premium subscribers also have access to 24/7 e-mail and chat support. Mail1Click also has an anti-spam system; unknown senders need to authenticate themselves by entering a one-time “captcha” code.

Kryptotel produces encrypted Voice over Internet Protocol, virtual private network, and e-mail solutions.
