Georgetown University taps Objectivity for Big Data research
Sunnyvale, CA-based Objectivity, Inc., a provider of object and graph databases, has announced that Georgetown University has selected its technologies to power big data analytics for addressing socio-technical challenges in health, security and sustainability.
By leveraging the Objectivity/DB and Infinite Graph products as core functions for predictive modeling, Georgetown will seek to add new research capabilities to tackle complex societal problems of a global nature.
“We selected Objectivity because of its scalability in representing large global knowledge graphs in a distributed environment,” said Dr. Spiros Dimolitsas, senior director for research and CTO at Georgetown. “It provides a solution that will enable us to deliver capabilities very quickly. In addition, our research requires collaboration and partnerships across a number of organizations, so we need a company that is nimble and capable of enabling our research over institutional boundaries.”
Georgetown will initially leverage Objectivity/DB and InfiniteGraph to enable research in collaboration with government, national laboratories and industry. Moving forward, Georgetown expects to leverage these and other technologies to develop transformative capabilities for tackling problems that involve complex, global-scale systems.
“Some of the world’s largest organizations are already leveraging Objectivity/DB and InfiniteGraph to gather, analyze and visualize the connections between complex data in order to make critical business decisions,” said Jay Jarrell, president and CEO of Objectivity. “As the only proven distributive graph database to scale to petabytes, InfiniteGraph is a natural fit for research organizations such as Georgetown University that require graph technology that can help uncover new discoveries and meaning in Big Data,” he added.
Objectivity is a force in Enterprise NOSQL, helping customers harness the power of Big Data. Its InfiniteGraph and Distributed Graph Database and ObjectivityD/B, a distributed and scalable object management database, enable organizations to discover hidden relations for improved Big Data analytics and develop applications with significant time-to-market advantages and technical cost savings, achieving greater return on data related investments. The company’s clients include AWD Financial, CUNA Mutual, Draeger Medical, Ericsson, McKesson, IPL, Siemens and the US Department of Defense.
