Visitor passes get tech savvy

Self-expiring pass

The bigger an organization gets, the harder it is to know every employee. So how do you know who is authorized to be in your facility — and who is not?

If employees are required to wear I.D. badges, does that mean everyone who does not is an authorized visitor? If you require visitors to wear nametags, how do you know they did not get them at an office supply store (“Hello, my name is ...”)? If you have your visitor badges specially printed – particularly to discourage forgery – how do you know that visitor checked in at the front desk today and that they are not using a discarded badge they found outside?

Data Management, Inc. of Farmington, CT, has introduced its “Visitor Pass Solutions,” the “next generation of expiring visitor badges” to resolve all these issues. With this new technology, the badges – which change color overnight – can prevent a visitor from re-entering a facility which they should not.

The technology for this expiring badge was developed by Dr. David Haas, who has had a long career in the security products industry.

Data Management’s self-expiring visitor badges are already being used in a variety of facilities, including hospitals and schools, across the nation.
