Guidance Software unveils EnCase Portable v2

Pasadena, CA-based Guidance Software has unveiled EnCase Portable v2, the second generation of its USB forensics data collection solution.

V2 includes the new capability to run keyword searches and triage content on target computers.

Like its predecessor, the company notes, Version 2 offers non-technical personnel the ability to search, view and collect data from target computers using a single USB drive that contains both the EnCase software and a licensing key.

EnCase Portable preserves digital evidence in the court-vetted evidence file format for which EnCase is known, Guidance adds.

Version 2 of EnCase Portable is expected to be generally available in late March 2010.
