Border Patrol agent promotion opportunity
If you’re a border patrol agent looking to get off the front lines and behind a supervisor’s desk, this might be your chance.
From now until March 5, 2010, Customs and Border Protection is offering agents the chance to qualify for supervisory jobs that pay from $68,809 to $147,857 per year.
The job announcement, number MHC-10-319477-AMB, is specifically for all GS-1896-12 non-supervisory Border Patrol agents.
Also, agents must meet the following criteria: “1) currently or previously served in a law enforcement retirement covered position, 2) currently or previously served at the GS-11 grade level or higher, 3) successfully completed the Border Patrol Agent basic training, and 4) possess the specialized experience.“
Applicants will take the Border Patrol supervisory assessment battery, which includes assessments of job knowledge, critical thinking, managerial writing skills, and the Border Patrol Career Experience Inventory (CEI), which “assesses the quantity and quality of specific experiences important for effective performance as a supervisor or manager,“ and which candidates complete online in USAJOBS.
Many openings, at locations around the nation, are available, according to the announcement.
