FORT LEE, NJ Feb. 2, 2017 Siklu Inc., the global market leader in millimeter-wave solutions, announced today that it has been selected by the city of Houston to provide wireless connectivity for the video surveillance system to be used at Super Bowl LIVE, a 10-day outdoor event in Houston that is expected to draw more than one million visitors as part of the pre-game festivities.
Siklu’s EH-600TX radios will be used to transmit video surveillance from the east side of downtown Houston, which will host the Super Bowl LIVE festivities from January 28 to February 5. The outdoor event will include entertainment, music and games and will be held over several city blocks near a 12-acre urban park.
The high level of wireless activity that will take place is expected to create network congestion that Siklu’s radios will bypass by operating on the unoccupied, wide 60GHz spectrum, which is separate from traditional wireless consumer networks. Siklu’s millimeter wave radios use narrow beam technology, eliminating interference from outside networks.
Siklu's radios are part of a 36 megapixel camera deployment provided by Axis Communications, a PSIM system from VidSys, and a video management system from Genetec, all of which are being deployed by the Houston Police Department to monitor Super Bowl LIVE. Using a mix of fiber and millimeter wave wireless from Siklu, the city is taking a hybrid approach to its network infrastructure for the event to ensure continuous interference-free video surveillance to enable the police department to monitor the area for issues. The system offers fiber-like quality with the flexibility, speed of deployment and affordable cost associated with a wireless network.
“Given the size of this event, it was extremely important that we deployed a reliable security network that could provide continuous coverage over a large outdoor area,” said Jack Hanagriff, from the City of Houston’s Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security. “We are expecting the Siklu radios to bulldoze through any wireless interference in the area caused by thousands of members of the public as they use their phones to stream video and photos.”
Siklu radios also provide a high-level network access security by operating over millimeter wave. The narrow beams make it practically impossible to intercept or jam, making the network secured from hackers and fully survivable.
“The City of Houston and Police Department were concerned about camera coverage and congestion from numerous wireless networks and mobile devices,” said Shaun Castillo, President of Preferred Technologies, LLC, the lead integrator on this project. “ Siklu radios provide the city with an extension of its fiber network by leveraging the interference free capabilities of millimeter wave technology.”
“We’re pleased that Siklu’s millimeter wave radios are an integral part of the Super Bowl Live security measures,” said Zeev Farkash, VP Global Sales at Siklu. “As security needs continue to grow with large-scale events like these, it’s important to implement a reliable surveillance solution to ensure the safety of visitors. Siklu has exactly this experience and has provided wireless connectivity at many high profile events, including the New York City Marathon and the Tour de France.”

Siklu delivers multi-gigabit fiber-like wireless connectivity in urban, suburban and rural areas. Operating in the 60, 70/80 GHz bands, its millimeter wave solutions are used by leading security integrators, service providers, municipal authorities and mobile network operators worldwide. Thousands of carrier grade units delivering interference-free performance have been successfully deployed world-wide. Easily installed on street-fixtures or rooftops, the price-competitive radios have proved to be ideal for networks requiring fast and simple deployment of secure, fiber-like and future-proof connectivity.www.siklu.com.

CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA Jan. 16, 2017 Hikvision USA Inc., the North American leader in innovative, award-winning video surveillance products, delivered a new security system that will be used for classroom instruction as well as security at Kids World, a non-profit school for students with disabilities, located in Taylorsville, Utah.
The system was installed over the holidays. Since its founding in 2005, Kids World has helped students (pre-school to 7th grade) with a variety of challenging disabilities, said Kids World founder Brandon Francis. “We help students get their behavior, social skills, and academics to the point where they can be successful in school and in their community,” Francis said. “We become a family to our students and I always hate to see them graduate our program, but it’s great to see them confident and ready to flourish in their next educational setting.”
Several Kids World graduates have moved on to public school settings. One child, who was nonverbal initially, started speaking after participating in an auditory therapy program at Kids World.
The Hikvision solution replaced an outdated system. Cameras are used for security when the school is vacant, during recess on the school’s playground, in the classrooms, and in the pickup/drop-off area. Inside the classrooms, teachers use video for monitoring and visual feedback.
Kids World’s new Hikvision system is designed for very easy installation, versatility and is ideally suited to a small education-vertical environment. The system includes three Hikvision DS- 2CD2432F-IW 3MP Indoor IR Wifi Cube cameras; one DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS 4MP WDR Mini Dome Network camera; four DS-2CD2132F-IWS MP Vandal-proof Network Dome cameras; and a DS-7716NI-I4/16P Embedded Plug & Play 4K NVR, with a built-in POE switch.
All of the cameras feature higher definition, affording better security and better coverage for the safety of the children. The outdoor cameras provide a wide coverage area for effective perimeter protection. The indoor cameras are low profile, which makes them unobtrusive in the classroom. The 4MP indoor dome camera features very wide, 106-degree coverage for the classroom, and all indoor cameras have audio recording capability, which Kids World teachers will use for instructional purposes. All of the cameras are also Wifi capable for a dynamic range of deployment opportunities.
Kids World has two classrooms and 16- to 20 students. In addition to regular school hours, Kids World offers one-on-one therapy, tutoring and after-school programs.
Hikvision has solutions that are tailored specifically to the education market, with systems that are appropriate for a wide variety of K-12 and higher education applications. “We’re particularly pleased to provide technical expertise and video surveillance equipment to help support Kids World teachers and students,” said Alex Asnovich, director of marketing for Hikvision USA. “This is one example of the many ways that Hikvision invests in the communities where we do business,” he added.
A few years ago, Kids World moved from its original location in a commercial park to a residential neighborhood. “I did an extensive study and found that a home-like environment is the most beneficial for students with and without disabilities. This type of environment helps students feel safe, secure, and at home. As a result, students have a higher self-esteem, are more ready to learn, have higher outcomes, and feel less anxiety then in a commercial building,” Francis said. “The Hikvision cameras will really make a difference for our students and their families, providing security and a helping hand in the classroom too,” Francis added.
Hikvision is the world’s leading supplier of video surveillance solutions. Featuring the industry’s strongest R&D workforce, Hikvision designs, develops, and manufactures standard- and high-definition cameras, including a variety of IP cameras, analog cameras, and cameras featuring the latest in high-definition analog technology. Hikvision’s product suite also includes digital video servers, hybrid and standalone DVRs, NVRs, and other elements of sophisticated security systems for both indoor and outdoor use.
LAS VEGAS Jan. 16, 2017 This new feature provides each trainer the capability to immediately review multiple video recordings once they are captured. Because the system is 100% mobile, training and after action reviews can be conducted anywhere. This allows tactical leaders and trainers to watch multiple video streams simultaneously in real time. They can then provide on-site analysis of actions that just occurred.
Training teams now have total control over their video recordings. No longer do they have to wait an excessive amount of time to download video from individual cameras, or stuff team members into a cramped control room to review actions on the objective.
