IRVINE, CA Feb. 17, 2017 TiaLinx, Inc., a developer of multi-spectra sensors integrated with drones and land robots, announced the presentation and showcasing of its Eagle5 and Lynx10 family of products at the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX-2017) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 19-23, 2017. Trust International Group, LLC has been chosen as TiaLinx's UAE reseller and will showcase many of the products such as the Eagle5-NN (sense-through-the-wall module capable of seamless integration with legacy robots), Eagle5-NC (dual function GPR, and breathing and motion detector of persons behind thick concrete), as well as its Lynx10-B (sense-through-the-air module for detecting live persons underneath the rubble of a collapsed building).
The light advanced sensors are designed to detect the existence of live persons inside a compound, while their high-resolution display capabilities clearly indicate the precise location of live persons. Unmatched in the industry, TiaLinx's patented Wafer-Scale™ beamforming and use of coded ultra-wideband radar technologies enables the sensing and networking of the units to identify and track multiple individuals through thick concrete walls. The impulse-based ultra-wideband system is superior to the single or multi-frequency ultra-wideband Doppler technologies in many ways: (i) traditional Doppler solutions are based on motion sensing and thus become inefficient in motionless scenarios, where a person is hiding or pretending to be expired; and (ii) significant attenuation is also encountered in sensing through thick concrete, which forces the use of higher power transmissions that are environmentally hazardous or cause the failure of communication devices. In contrast, ultra low-power transmitter of TiaLinx's impulse radar system boasts superior performance from massive signal processing to enhance its detection capability and is undetectable by adversaries.

MONTREAL Feb. 21, 2017 Hikvision Canada Inc., the country’s leader in innovative, award-winning video surveillance products and solutions, today launched a French language website to better serve its growing customer base in French-speaking Canada and to continually expand its footprint in the North American security market. The French website complements the Hikvision Canada website, which was launched in August 2016.
Jeffrey He, president of Hikvision Canada Inc., and Hikvision USA Inc., said Canada is a key element of Hikvision’s strategic growth plan. He noted that Quebec is Canada’s second-most populated province, and because of its French-speaking citizens, Quebec represents an important and distinct market in Canada. The new website will help explain Hikvision products in French, and will help Hikvision adapt security offerings to this market.
“Under the leadership of Lorne Terry, our sales director in Canada, we have an outstanding team of sales, marketing, technical and engineering talent in place across Canada. Many of our employees are bilingual, and we have plans to further expand the team this year,” He said. “We also announced last week that we’ll be enhancing our services to all North American customers, especially our enterprise partners, with the establishment this year of the Hikvision R&D Centre here in Montreal.”
Hikvision has made significant investment and enjoyed rapid expansion in Canada. “With its headquarters in Montreal, Hikvision Canada is already an important participant in the economic development of the region,” said Lorne Terry, sales director for Hikvision Canada. “The new French website will enable Hikvision Canada to foster even closer ties with the Montreal business sector.”
Hikvision Canada’s 4K Tech Tour will visit several cities in the next few weeks. Hikvision will also exhibit its enterprise-level solutions on April 26 at Security Canada East at Booth 202 at the Sheraton Laval, in Laval, Quebec. In the US, Hikvision will exhibit at Booth 18037 at the ISC West Show in Las Vegas, April 5-7, 2017.
Hikvision is the world’s leading supplier of video surveillance solutions. Featuring the industry’s strongest R&D workforce, Hikvision designs, develops, and manufactures standard- and high-definition cameras, including a variety of IP cameras, analog cameras, and cameras featuring the latest in high-definition analog technology. Hikvision’s product suite also includes digital video servers, hybrid and standalone DVRs, NVRs, and other elements of sophisticated security systems for both indoor and outdoor use.
MONTVALE, NJ Feb. 17, 2017 The buzz attendees will be hearing at what ISC calls “the leading physical security event in North America”, might just be from aerial drones flying overhead or unmanned ground vehicles cruising around. Unlike any other event, ISC West 2017 will feature its inaugural Unmanned Security Expo complete with a fully functional flight cage and robotics demonstration area. Vendors, representative of the latest robotic technology for security, will be showcased and some will participate in free exhibit floor educational sessions.
Robolliance, a forum for technology partners and industry experts in robotics, surveillance and security, created to advance the understanding and awareness of the Autonomous Robotics marketplace, is one of the four primary supporters of the Unmanned Security Expo. Robolliance sponsors, comprised of technology companies, security integrators and industry thought leaders, will be on hand April 5th-7th to welcome attendee inquiries and address the greater questions of “Why Robotics? Why Security? Why Now?”.
Founding sponsor of Robolliance, Sharp Electronics Corporation, will also take part in the Unmanned Security Expo by featuring its Sharp INTELLOS Automated Unmanned Ground Vehicle (“A-UGV”). Debuted in September 2016, the Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV is a cost-effective, multi-terrain, mobile sensor platform that can capture video, audio and environmental data, while providing a visible deterrent. The data it collects can enhance outdoor surveillance, security, safety and maintenance inspections, which will help organizations meet the challenges of an ever-changing security landscape by augmenting a skilled guard force. Other Robolliance technology sponsors having booth presence at the Unmanned Security Expo include Rajant, Nightingale Security, and National Solar Technologies. Robolliance technology sponsor IPVideo will be on the main exhibit hall floor.
Cliff Quiroga, Vice President of Sharp Robotics Business Development, the division of Sharp Electronics responsible for the Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV, is proud to support ISC West in this way. “Sharp determined over four years ago the necessity of robotics for outdoor security perimeter patrol. By studying the market and through innumerable conversations with security integrators, guard companies and end users, we not only brought to the industry a product that is integral in safeguarding infrastructure, assets and people . . . Sharp brought to the industry a profit-making opportunity for resellers and a true technological partner for manpower guarding. Additionally, out of those conversations emerged the ecosystem of Robolliance, where thought leaders can together shine a light on the transformative nature of robotics for security. The Unmanned Security Expo is yet another example of like-mindedness around this technology.”
To foster awareness and understanding about UGVs for security, visit Robolliance.com. Then stop by the Robolliance Sponsor Showcase as well as the Robolliance Expert Corner in booths #3135 and #4136 to meet the sponsors.
For a full list of “right fit” properties and missions for the Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV, visit SharpINTELLOS.com. There you will also find all the features and benefits as well as see the unit in action. CAMBRIDGE, MA Feb. 14, 2017 Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader in content delivery network (CDN) services, today released its Fourth Quarter, 2016 State of the Internet / Security Report. The report, using data gathered from the Akamai Intelligent Platform, provides analysis of the current cloud security and threat landscape, as well as insight into seasonal trends.
Download the latest State of the Internet / Security Report for data, analysis, and graphics at akamai.com/stateoftheinternet-security.
“As we saw with the Mirai botnet attacks during the third quarter, unsecured Internet of Things (IoT) devices continued to drive significant DDoS attack traffic,” said Martin McKeay, senior security advocate and senior editor, State of the Internet/Security Report. “With the predicted exponential proliferation of these devices, threat agents will have an expanding pool of resources to carry out attacks, validating the need for companies to increase their security investments. Additional emerging system vulnerabilities are expected before devices become more secure.”
Highlights from Akamai’s Fourth Quarter, 2016 State of the Internet / Security Report include:
- Attacks greater than 100 Gbps increased 140 percent year-over-year from Q4 2015
- The largest DDoS attack in Q4 2016, which peaked at 517 Gbps, came from Spike, a non-IoT botnet that has been around for more than two years.
- Seven of the 12 Q4 2016 mega attacks, those with traffic greater than 100 Gbps, can be directly attributed to Mirai.
- The number of IP addresses involved in DDoS attacks grew significantly this quarter, despite DDoS attack totals dropping overall. The United States sourced the most IP addresses participating in DDoS attacks – more than 180,000.
Web Application Attacks
- The United States remained the top source country for web application attacks, showing a 72 percent increase from Q3 2016.
- SQLi, LFI, and XSS web application vectors accounted for 95 percent of observed web application attacks in Q4 2016, similar to Q3 2016.
- The number of web application attacks in Q4 2016 was down 19 percent from Q4 2015; however, research into retail traffic over the United States Thanksgiving holiday week revealed an upward trend for four sub-verticals (apparel and footwear, consumer portals, consumer electronics and media and entertainment) that all suffered from significant web application attacks.
Top Attack Vectors
- Of the 25 DDoS attack vectors tracked in Q4 2016, the top three were UDP fragment (27 percent), DNS (21 percent), and NTP (15 percent), while overall DDoS attacks decreased by 16 percent.
Akamai added a new reflection DDoS attack vector this quarter, Connectionless Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (CLDAP), which attackers abuse to amplify DDoS traffic.
“If anything, our analysis of Q4 2016 proves the old axiom ‘expect the unexpected’ to be true for the world of web security,” continued McKeay. “For example, perhaps the attackers in control of Spike felt challenged by Mirai and wanted to be more competitive. If that’s the case, the industry should be prepared to see other botnet operators testing the limits of their attack engines, generating ever larger attacks.”
A complimentary copy of the Q4 2016 State of the Internet / Security Report is available for download at akamai.com/stateoftheinternet-security.

WESTMINSTER, CO Feb. 8, 2017 3xLOGIC, Inc., a leading provider of integrated intelligent security solutions today announced continued solid uptake of its VIGIL Central Management (VCM) software, amid excellent feedback on the deployment of VCM in the field.
VCM provides security professionals with the tools they need to effectively manage and monitor multiple 3xLOGIC VIGIL Servers and VISIX cameras over IP networks. With VCM, users are notified immediately if there is an issue with a server or camera connected to their network. This allows potential problems to be resolved proactively before a loss of critical video or service occurs.
Bates Security Finds RMR Success
Jeremy and Bryan Bates, owners of Bates Security (and Sonitrol of Lexington, KY and Jacksonville, FL), are among the most successful to date in implementing VCM as a managed service offering for their customers. “We don’t sell systems unless there is a full-service maintenance contract,” explained Jeremy Bates. “With 3xLOGIC’s VCM as part of that system, we offer a whole new level of service, a true managed service. Now, we know when a camera is down before the end user does. Unlike in the past, when you found out a camera was malfunctioning because you had no video of that recent incident you really needed to see.”
Bates Security has 176 3xLOGIC video surveillance systems and counting that are utilizing the VCM managed service offering. “VCM as part of our managed services significantly strengthens our value proposition,” said Bryan Bates. “Our video systems also include a monthly investment. This monthly investment provides real value to the client because of the work Bates Security does every day to deliver the best possible video solution. Clients can rest assured that their cameras and video servers are functioning and that they will deliver video when it matters most. The monthly investment also covers the equipment, should it have problems, and even replaces a camera with the latest, best model if it can’t be repaired.
VCM Facilitates Deeper Customer Relationships
VCM as part of a managed services agreement sounds great in theory, but the Bates have repeatedly seen it in action. One customer had accidently turned off a camera that provided views of a parking area. VCM sent an alert, and a Bates Security administrator contacted the end user to get the camera back online. Within a day or two, the video surveillance system caught two perpetrators throwing a brick through a car window in the parking area and making off with a purse. The video images were quite clear, and the police were able to apprehend the suspects based on the video evidence. Without this level of technology and service, it’s likely the camera would have remained down and the incident left unrecorded.
“If that end user had bought his system off the internet or from an integrator not providing full service, he’s probably got nothing,” said Jeremy Bates, “because he didn’t invest in a total solution.” Bryan Bates added, “VCM gives us many opportunities to ‘touch’ the client, to provide consistent value, to have a conversation and stay current with their needs and mindset. It’s a very valuable tool for us.”
The 3xLOGIC VIGIL Central Management software’s main end user benefits include,
- VIGIL Server, NVRs and VISIX camera health monitoring
- Email/text alerts of health monitoring events (number of recording cameras, hard drive storage, processor utilization)
- User account and permissions management
- Remotely deployable VIGIL Software Suite updates
- Back-up and storage for Server configuration files
A leader in the Security industry for more than 15 years, 3xLOGIC is known for providing complete, easy-to-use surveillance solutions that seamlessly integrate audio, video, access control and disparate data such as ATM, Point-of-Sale (POS), analytics, etc. 3xLOGIC’s video surveillance solutions are engineered for scalability and are remarkably simple to install, use and service. Employing the latest advances in NVR, VMS, IP camera, analytic, cloud, and now access control technologies, 3xLOGIC delivers high-value business intelligence anywhere, anytime and from any device.
