Raytheon contracted to demonstrate Army mobile intelligence platform

STERLING, Va. -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has been awarded a U.S. Army contract to demonstrate the company's commercially available mobile intelligence platform that will allow soldiers to quickly collect and access information on the battlefield.

This commercial laptop-based platform, called the FoXTEN, may be considered as a future mobile component of the Army's Distributed Common Ground System. DCGS is an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance system that enables deployed soldiers to collect, process and display intelligence information from a variety of sources and sensors. The Army is upgrading their existing DCGS system with a series of new components and capabilities, including the mobile platform.

"Our soldiers need real-time access to intelligence and surveillance data, and FoXTEN is designed to get that information to and from the most remote edges of the battlefield," said Todd Probert, vice president of Mission Support and Modernization at Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services. "We'll be bringing our deep experience integrating the best commercial software into a system our soldiers can trust to keep them constantly aware of threats and give them the advantage they need to win on any battlefield."

Under the contract awarded by the U.S. Army Contracting Command, Raytheon will demonstrate the company's FoXTEN software product, which can be loaded onto a commercially procured laptop and easily deployed and used by soldiers operating in the field. FoXTEN quickly connects warfighters to intelligence from various sources, giving them the real time information they need to make mission decisions across all battle domains. FoXTEN, when loaded onto a laptop, is lightweight, requires little power and can operate at low-transmission speeds.

"Our system is intuitive, easy to use and only takes eight hours of training compared to the current system," said Probert. "It's also completely open, allowing the Army to integrate new capabilities from any developer. The system is designed from the ground up to be easily upgraded so our soldiers always have the best technology and intelligence in their hands."

The Army will conduct a series of operational tests of the FoXTEN software over the next year before making a final procurement decision.

Vectra Cognito Platform Now Available for the Department of Homeland Security Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation Program

Congress established the CDM Program to provide adequate, risk-based, and cost-effective cybersecurity and efficiently allocate cybersecurity resources. Vectra Cognito is approved for purchase by all civilian organizations and the DoD for CDM Phase 3 DEFEND, which focuses on incident response and ongoing assessment.

The Vectra Cognito platform was approved for CDM Phase 3 DEFEND by continuously detecting attacker behaviors in real time, correlating alerts into incidents, and prioritizing the highest-risk threats. Lockheed Martin and Cobham Team to Develop Next Generation Jammer Low Band for U.S. Navy's Electronic Warfare Aircraft

SYRACUSE, N.Y., April 10, 2018 -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and Cobham (LSE: COB) are joining forces for the Next Generation Jammer Low Band (NGJ-LB) competition to replace the U.S. Navy's ALQ-99 tactical jamming system currently on the E/A-18 Growler aircraft.

Both partners on the team bring critical capabilities and areas of expertise. Cobham developed and was the only production partner to the U.S. Navy for the ALQ-99 Low Band Transmitter/Antenna Group (LBT/AG) and has been supporting the LBT/AG program for more than 20 years. Lockheed Martin has been developing electronic warfare solutions for more than 40 years and has experience with various airborne and naval electronic warfare programs, including the Advanced Off-Board Electronic Warfare (AOEW) system and the multi-mission AN/ALQ-210 and AN/ALQ-217 Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems for the U.S. Navy. These Lockheed Martin products provide situational awareness, threat warning and proven electronic warfare solutions to detect, track and deter incoming threats.

The NGJ-LB system will provide significantly greater electronic attack capabilities in the lower frequency bands of the electromagnetic spectrum against modern threats.

The compact and lightweight system for business jets and commercial or military aircraft provides connectivity to both the cockpit and the cabin simultaneously, which in turn results in safer, more efficient and more comfortable flights than previously possible

The first release of the Aspire 400 satellite communication system includes the operator's choice of either an intermediate-gain or a high-gain antenna. The system includes a satellite data unit, a configuration module, a high-power amplifier, and a diplexer/low noise amplifier. The Aspire 400 provides connectivity to pilots and passengers alike through two independent SwiftBroadband channels and Inmarsat's I-4 network. Using Inmarsat's SwiftBroadband–Safety service, pilots have access to a separate, secure data channel for essential safety communications in the cockpit – like text messaging with air traffic control or in-flight tracking – as well as electronic flight bag applications. Passengers can use the second channel for SwiftBroadband voice and data connectivity in the cabin.

Aspire 400 is the newest addition to Honeywell's line of Aspire satellite communications systems, providing access to voice and data communications around the world. Exclusive to the innovative Aspire product family is the ability to install two different Aspire satcom systems on the same aircraft in "dual satcom" mode. For example, the Aspire 400 system can be installed together with Honeywell's new Aspire 350 system to provide redundancy over multiple networks.

With the Aspire 400, pilots, flight crews and passengers can access Honeywell's suite of GoDirect® software and apps, including GoDirect Cabin Connectivity. This application controls connectivity services and usage, and can help operators save up to $100,000 per year. The Aspire 400 system is also a quick and easy upgrade for legacy satcom systems like MCS-7000 or MCS-7200.

Boeing's Tapestry Solutions Sensor Integration Platform Goes Live at BAE Systems

SAN DIEGO, April 9, 2018 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA], through its subsidiary Tapestry Solutions, today announced that its Enterprise Sensor Integration (ESI) software platform has gone live at BAE Systems' Nashua, New Hampshire, facility.

The rollout of Tapestry's ESI is part of BAE Systems' large-scale effort to standardize and automate the infrastructure for its manufacturing operations. Plans are now underway to implement ESI at additional BAE Systems manufacturing plants in New Hampshire, New Jersey, Texas and California.

ESI integrates myriad sensor technologies that track, monitor and control assets and workflow processes. ESI also integrates smart Internet-enabled devices, or Internet of Things (IoT), into one intelligent and interactive network. The software harnesses the power of big data and analytics to boost manufacturing efficiency, productivity and profitability. 

As a sensor-agnostic solution, ESI solves connectivity challenges in the evolving digital landscape. It also integrates with an organization's legacy and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and operates in the cloud or on dedicated servers.

The ESI installation at the Nashua plant involved the integration of Impinj Speedway Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) readers, Mojix STAR wide-area RFID sensors and readers, and several ERP and asset management/ordering systems.

ESI mirrors Automated Identification Technology (AIT), the sensor integration solution implemented across 50 Boeing assembly plants. AIT saved Boeing more than $100 million in its first year alone through decreased assembly time, automated asset receipt/payment, enhanced inventory management and improved quality and safety.
