LRAD sells 300X acoustic hailing devices to Colombian Navy coastal defense patrol boats
San Diego-based LRAD Corp., a supplier of long range acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), announced on Feb. 6 that it has received a $323,000 order for LRAD 300X systems and support equipment. The systems will be installed on Colombian Navy coastal defense patrol boats.
The LRAD 300X is a low profile, lightweight, long-range communications solution for use on armored vehicles, common remotely operating weapon stations (CROWS) and small vessels. Easily transported, the 300X provides military and law enforcement personnel a highly effective hailing and warning capability. LRAD 300X operators have the ability to issue clear, authoritative voice commands and deterrent tones to enhance capabilities.
“We’re pleased to receive another follow-up order from Colombia, which highlights the opportunity for international sales growth of LRAD products,” said Tom Brown, the company’s president and CEO. “The Colombian Navy will be employing LRAD 300X systems to broadcast warnings and critical information to vessels from safe, stand -off distances. During suspect boat interceptions, LRAD systems ensure naval authorities’ commands and instructions and clearly heard and understood over engine, wind and background noise to help control these situations and avoid violent confrontations.”
LRAD long range communication systems are designed to resolve uncertain situations peacefully and save lives on both sides of its proprietary Long Range Acoustic Device. The systems are in service around the world in diverse applications including fixed and mobile military deployments, maritime security, critical infrastructure and perimeter protection, commercial security, border security and law enforcement, as well as emergency response communications, emergency warning and mass notification, asset protection and wildlife preservation and control.
LRAD 300Xi produces nearly 100 percent intelligible voice transmission over 88dB of background noise beyond 350 meters and beyond 1,500 meters in a benign environment. LRAD 300Xi operators have the ability to issue clear, authoritative verbal commands, followed with powerful deterrent tones to enhance response capabilities. The extended frequency range of LRAD 300Xi ensures voice commands will be clearly understood.
Features of the LRAD 300Xi include:
- Longer stand-off distances for increased asset protection;
- Larger coverage with fewer personnel;
- Determination of intent of groups or individuals from extended distances;
- Maritime vessels to clearly and forcefully communicate with small vessels that pose a threat;
- Perimeter/infrastructure protection for oil and gas platforms, mining operations, and chemical/power plants;
- Transmitting bird distress calls to repel targeted birds from crops, buildings and airports;
- Enforcement of safety zones for maritime vessels.
