Vigitron’s diagnostic tool streamlines installation of PoE cameras

Vigitron, a manufacturer of analog and IP transmission solutions, has introduced a new diagnostic tool that saves time and money when installing PoE network products.

The patent-pending, ViewMate model Vi0020 PoE camera setup tool works with both CCTV and IT systems compliant in operations under 802.3 af/at Power over Ethernet (PoE) standards. It raises the bar over available competing products in terms of cost effectiveness and ease of use, says a Vigitron news release issued on June 20.

The ViewMate is compact, easy to use and improves productivity by streamlining IP camera installation. It features a 2-digit PoE voltmeter, providing an accurate measurement of actual voltage delivered to the camera. Using the Vi0020 allows installers and repair personnel to immediate determine trouble spots and affect repairs.

When connected, ViewMate passes power from the PoE Midspan at the control room to the remote IP camera and provides a direct network connection from the remote IP camera to a local laptop to complete the installation.

“With ever increasing costs for field service and installation, the Vi0020’s simple operation can help to quickly pinpoint problem areas or as an inline monitoring device help in preventing problems before they occur,” said Neil Heller, the company’s vice president for business development. “As a leader in extended transmission systems, Vigitron continues to provide test and measure products that decrease installation costs and provide system monitoring to prevent problems before they happen.”
