Corporate News: VeriTainer completes cargo radiation screening test

VeriTainer Corp., of St. Helena, CA, announced the successful completion of 100 percent cargo radiation screening field testing, conducted at the Howard Terminal in Oakland, CA. The company’s VeriSpreader crane-mounted radiation scanner handled 24,178 "lifts" as part of the Oakland Pilot Project II field test which was launched April 2.

In light of a recent FBI and DHS report putting renewed emphasis on the potential threat of shoe bombers, IDO Security, of New York, NY, noted in a recent press statement that its MagShoe shoes-on metal detector efficiently detects metallic weapons and bomb components from the ground level up to the ankles. It also noted that its consultant, former DHS secretary, Tom Ridge, is working with the company to submit materials and win DHS approval.

EF Johnson, Inc., of Irving, TX, has teamed with Cisco Systems, Inc., of San Jose, CA, to deliver complete IP interoperability solutions for state and local governments and first responders. The agreement marries Cisco’s IP Interoperability and Collaboration System (IPICS) to EF Johnson’s land mobile radio communications solutions. The partnership is expected to give customers a fast, flexible and cost-effective radio migration toward trunked Project 25 systems.

The FLIR thermal camera will sit alongside the MIC1-412 day/night optical camera, allowing users to switch from optical to thermal at the press of a button.

General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, announced that its TACLANE Router has been certified by the National Security Agency (NSA) to protect classified information transmitted through military and government networks at the Top Secret level and below. The TACLANE Router directs information to the recipient’s destination while securing the transmitted information. The device comes pre-configured to NSA network routing security guidelines, and is compliant with the High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor Interoperability Specification.

Corporate News: Raytheon, Cisco collaborate on interoperability solution

The JPS Communications subsidiary of Raytheon has entered into an agreement with San Jose, CA-based Cisco to market an integrated local and wide area communications solution, designed to improve interoperability for both military and civil customers. The agreement integrates JPS ACU-2000 IP with Cisco’s IP Interoperability and Collaboration System (IPICS), boosting interoperable communications capabilities by taking advantage of an open standards platform.
