Corporate News: Astaro goes "green" for energy savings, security efficiency

Astaro Corp., of Burlington, MA, a vendor of integrated security appliances, announced it has joined The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. The company plans to collaborate with other members to improve and promote efficiency in network security. The Astaro solution, available as a software, hardware or virtual appliance, integrates disparate network security products onto a single solution, allowing customers to minimize energy consumption and reduce physical waste while tailoring to any network infrastructure. The Green Grid seeks to provide industry-wide recommendations on best practices, metrics and technologies that will improve overall data center and business computing energy efficiencies.



VOIP SECURITY - Sipera Systems, of Richardson, TX, a provider of VoIP and other communications security solutions, announced its Sipera IPCS line of security appliances has been designated a Nortel Select Product. The Sipera IPCS products are now recognized as a best-in-class technology that strategically complements Nortel’s Communication Server 2100. As part of the Select Product Program, Nortel Partner Advantage resellers can order Sipera IPCS products and support through Nortel. This gives Nortel customers access to Sipera IPCS products as a recommended third-party product via Nortel channel partners.



VIDEO PARTNERSHIP - IP video management developer Milestone Systems, of Copenhagen, Denmark, announced it has entered into a partnership with Vidient Systems, Inc., of Santa Clara, CA, which provides video analytics software used for security and safety applications. The companies will integrate Vidient's flagship analytics software, SmartCatch 3.0, into Milestone's open platform XProtect IP video management solution. The result is expected to substantially improve the productivity of IP video surveillance.
