Contracts: AT&T wins $20 Million CBP networking task order

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), awarded AT&T Inc. a task order worth up to $20 million to provide voice networking solutions for the directorate. AT&T will serve as the primary network voice services provider to CBP for the task order, which was awarded via the General Services Administration's (GSA) Networx Universal program. Networx Universal is a 10-year, $20 billion contract vehicle that allows AT&T Government Solutions, a business unit within AT&T, and Networx contract holders to provide a full range of network and telecommunications services to federal government agencies. The CBP order has a four-year base with three two-year options. Under the terms of the order, AT&T will use its networking expertise to deliver voice networking solutions that will ensure reliable, secure communications for the agency's 47,000 employees based throughout the country.

Contracts: DHS taps Implant Sciences for explosives sampler development

The Department of Homeland Security’s science and technology directorate announced the award of a six-month $100,000 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBOIR) contract to Implant Sciences Corp., of Wakefield, MA, to develop a handheld trace explosives sampler. A company spokesman said Implant Sciences would use its proprietary vortex collection technology in the development of the sampling device to augment the process of collecting samples used in detecting and identifying a range of explosives materials.

L-1 Identity Solutions wins $50 million Defense Travel System award

Advanced Concepts, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Stamford, CT-based L-1 Identity Solutions, was awarded a blanket purchase agreement from the Department of Defense, with a potential value of $50 Million, to support the program management office of the Defense Travel System.

Contracts: ManTech MBI wins $9.7 million award on DHS EAGLE contract

The ManTech MBI, Inc., subsidiary of ManTech International Corp., of Fairfax, VA, was recently awarded a $9.7 million task order under its Enterprise Acquisition Gateway Leading Edge Solutions (EAGLE) contract with the Department of Homeland Security. Under the four-year duration of the task order with DHS’s science and technology directorate, ManTech will provide IT security compliance, IT security architecture services and verification and validation of the directorate’s applications and systems at headquarters and throughout its numerous research laboratories.

Contracts: Lockheed Martin wins tunnel detection contract

Lockheed Martin Corp. a $1.5 million contract under its Tunnel Detection Technologies Project. The program, managed by the DHS science and technology directorate, aims to develop and demonstrate technologies which can rapidly detect tunnels, leading to wide area surveillance capabilities. Demonstration models must utilize GPS tagged data to enable more sensitive ground validation and simple long-term deterrence. Measurements will be processed to detect and locate near-surface tunnels, infrastructure and geologic heterogeneity in depths ranging from 0 to 100 feet. Such tunnel detection capability is sought by several federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

Contracts: Nevada OKs $29 million Digimarc secure drivers license deal

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has extended its contract with Beaverton, OR-based Digimarc Corp., to provide enhanced security for Nevada’s driver license issuance system through 2017. Under the terms of the agreement, Digimarc will migrate the state’s driver license production method from issuing licenses and ID cards in each branch office to secure production in a centralized manufacturing facility. Digimarc will also deliver its biometric identification system, which uses facial recognition technology to combat applicants seeking to obtain multiple licenses under different identities. The contract is valued at $29.2 million.
