Contracts: QinetiQ North America scores Kennedy Space Center subcontract from Abacus

The Mission Solutions Group of QinetiQ North America, of Fairfax, VA, has been awarded a contract by Abacus Technology Corp, of Chevy Chase, MD, has been selected to support information management and communications activities for NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The contract will run for up to nine years, with a potential value of $144 million. As a subcontractor, QinetiQ North America will provide systems engineering, sustaining engineering and imaging and timing services.



Peregrine Pharmaceuticals, Inc., of Tustin, CA, has entered into a five-year contract worth up to $44.4 million to test and develop bavituximab and an equivalent fully human antibody as potential broad-spectrum treatments for viral hemorrhagic fever infections. The initial contract was awarded through the Transformational Medical Technologies Initiative of DoD’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency.



On Track Innovations, of Fort Lee, NJ, has signed a contract with the Electoral Commission of an undisclosed African country to upgrade of the country's permanent voter registry, including new biometric-based voter cards, with security features. The value of the initial contract is more than $2 million, with more than $1 million expected in 2008, according to the company. The project's objectives are to verify the voter identity, detect and avoid double registration attempts, and issue a new voter ID, which will be used in the next elections.
