Contracts: BAE Systems wins $13 million armored car contract

BAE Systems was also awarded a $10 million contract from the General Services Administration for Outer Tactical Vests (OTV) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War On Terrorism. The OTV, when combined with small arms protective insert plates, provides advanced protection against fragments from mines, grenades, mortar shells, artillery fire, and from rifle projectiles. BAE Systems has manufactured more than 334,000 OTVs since the product’s inception in 2003.
The Transportation Security Administration plans to issue a sole source contract to Railinc Corp., of Cary, NC, to acquire a Security-Sensitive Materials (SSM) Location Reporting Tool in order to identify and locate, at any moment, the number and types of bulk rail shipments that contain SSM. The SSM Location Reporting Tool will allow TSA to maintain situation awareness and provide appropriate responses during heightened alert levels. TSA plans to award a fixed price type contract for the continued development, customization, and operation of FreightScope, a rail car location data management system that was developed and marketed by Railinc. FreightScope provides a Web-based, interactive dashboard of near real-time rail shipment location information for North America.
The U.S. Coast Guard has signed a contract with Vertex Plastics, Inc., of Kearney, MO, to acquire a video/telecommunications equipment shelter for USCG Maintenance and Logistics Command – Pacific. The contract is valued at $32,045.
