Contracts: ICE names VACI to provide detainee phone access

Immigration & Customs Enforcement signed a contract with Value Added Communications, Inc., (VACI), of Plano, TX, to ensure that detainees in the custody of various U.S. Government agencies have free telephone access, as mandated by ICE’s National Detention Standards. ICE identified entities including foreign embassies, consulates, immigration courts and approved pro bono and community-based free immigration legal service providers. Under this contract, which has no stated dollar value, VACI will host a "pro-bono network," allowing all ICE detainees access to identified entities.



Police in Phelps County, MO, will soon have a simulated learning experience. The Phelps County Sheriff's Department placed an order for the advanced IVR(R) small arms training simulator from Houston-based VirTra Systems, Inc.. The 300-degree law enforcement situational awareness and use-of-force firearms simulator employs fully immersive scenarios that instantly branch out, based on the trainee's performance.



Mobilisa, Inc., of Port Townsend, WA, announced that it has been awarded a new $747,229 contract from the U.S. Air Force to perform Research and Development of a Radio Frequency (RF) Microwave Hazard Assessment Tool (RHAZ). RHAZ is a hazard analysis software tool that will enable medics, range safety officers, and researchers to determine an RF emitter’s hazard potential to airmen for use in real time deployment environments. The tool will allow the Air Force to safely install equipment in an expeditionary environment. The contract will leverage Intelli-Check - Mobilisa’s expertise in both wireless technology and software development and will be performed along with a team of scientists at the Air Force Research Laboratory’s office at Brooks City-Base in San Antonio, TX.



The Drug Enforcement Administration has awarded a contract to RD Systems Inc., of Tustin, CA, to acquire a new security system for its Los Angeles Field Division. The security system will incorporate Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), an intrusion detection system (IDS) and proximity access control. Under the terms of the contract, valued at $129,000, RD Systems will provide parts, labor, warranties and maintenance.
