Contracts: FEMA to contract Amtrak for emergency evacuations

The Federal Emergency Management Agency plans to award a contract to Amtrak, the national passenger rail carrier, to provide for possible emergency evacuation by rail of a minimum of 9,000 evacuees within a 48-hour time period from the city of New Orleans. The contract could be expanded to include other urban centers with large mass-transit dependent populations along the Gulf and south Atlantic coasts. Operation of evacuation trains would commence within 24 hours of receiving notice of the need for evacuation services. The initial period of the contract covers from award date through December 30, with four one-year options.



Customs and Border Protection has awarded Microsoft a contract to provide consulting services to cover information technology and telecommunications services. The award, issued March 20, has a value of $47 million.



Customs and Border Protection awarded a contract to Khan & Hill, of Bethesda, MD, to provide role players to assist in CBP education and training programs. The contract has a value of $59,736.



Customs and Border Protection has contracted with A&L Equine Services, of Hidalgo, TX, to provide horses for the Rio Grande Valley sector horse patrol. The contract has a value of $814,740.



The U.S. Coast Guard’s Maintenance and Logistics Command – Pacific awarded a contract to Epoch Concepts, LLC, of Littleton, CO, to help maintain its Nationwide Automated Identification System (NAIS). The contract is valued at $111,249.
