Contracts: Nevada OKs $29 million Digimarc secure drivers license deal

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has extended its contract with Beaverton, OR-based Digimarc Corp., to provide enhanced security for Nevada’s driver license issuance system through 2017. Under the terms of the agreement, Digimarc will migrate the state’s driver license production method from issuing licenses and ID cards in each branch office to secure production in a centralized manufacturing facility. Digimarc will also deliver its biometric identification system, which uses facial recognition technology to combat applicants seeking to obtain multiple licenses under different identities. The contract is valued at $29.2 million.



The U.S. Coast Guard is negotiating a sole-source procurement from Marine Exchange of Alaska based in Juneau, AK, for long-range satellite and AIS vessel tracking services to be viewable via the Automated Secure Vessel Tracking System (ASVTS). Marine Exchange will also provide a subscription to its Long Range Identification and Tracking service and provide data analyses and semi-monthly reports of vessel traffic through the Unimak Passage.



The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA, is purchasing copies of Device Seizure forensic software from the manufacturer, Paraben Corp. of Orem, UT.



DHS plans to issue a sole source purchase order for policy consultant services to Global Cyber Risk, of Washington, DC. The contract calls for Global Cyber Risk to update compliance requirements and provide maintenance and auditing services for the agency’s Protected Repository for the Defense of Infrastructure Against Cyber Threats (PREDICT) program.



The U.S. Air Force Air Education and Training Command division located at Maxwell AFB, AL, is ordering 2,300 copies of the book: Crisis of Islam: Holy War and Unholy Terror, by Bernard Lewis (ISBN: 9780812967852).



The DHS science and technology directorate is issuing a sole source contract to Syagen Technology, Inc., of Tustin, CA, to modify a Syagen-developed mass spectrometer-based screening portal for non-intrusive explosives screening.
