Contracts: DHS awards SRA $17.9 million national security IT contract

The U.S. State Department contracted with Apptis Inc., of Chantilly, VA, to purchase image track scanners to handle passport applications and other tasks. The contract, valued at $536,000, is one of several Apptis holds from the State Department. The information technology services and solutions company provides key support for the State Department’s Travel Document Issuance System (TDIS), an enterprise passport management system which processes 10.5 million passport applications a year. Apptis also services DHS and the Justice Department, providing identity verification tools, secure passport and document systems, secure communications, as well as systems which integrate biometrics with identity management.
Customs and Border Protection purchased a portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer from Innov-X Systems, Inc., of Woburn, MA. The contract has a value of $110,000. The analyzers, used to determine presence of selected metals and other materials, were first introduced last spring.
OSI Systems, Inc., of Hawthorne, CA, announced it has won a contract from its Chinese distributor valued at $2 million, for its Rapiscan 500 baggage and parcel X-ray inspection system.
The U.S. Secret Service intends to negotiate a sole source contract with White Wolf Survival, Inc., of Lancaster, PA, for immediate specialized network intrusion training for the Secret Services Network Intrusion Responder Program.
