Contracts: FEMA awards $305 million base camp services contract

The Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a $305 million, multi-year contract to
Brookstone Emergency Services, of Temecula, CA, to provide national base camp support services. Brookstone Emergency Services has been a leader in providing highly specialized emergency and disaster preparedness services to meet the needs of local, state and federal agencies. It has participated in numerous incidents in California and across the nation relating to fire, emergency and disaster preparedness, including three major incidents rated as Presidential Disaster Declarations: Fire Siege 2003, Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.
American Science and Engineering, Inc., announced it has received a multi-million dollar order for its OmniView gantry systems and the Z Backscatter Van X-ray detection systems to be deployed inspecting cargo and vehicles entering a major, high-volume Italian port. The combined technologies can be used to detect contraband as well as threatening materials such as weapons and explosives hidden in cargo containers, tankers and vehicles.
