Contracts: Tauri wins $38 million DHS chem-bio award

The Tauri Group, of Alexandria, VA, was selected to provide systems engineering and technical assistance support for the Chemical and Biological Early Detection (CBED) program in the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Health Affairs. The contract covers a 39-month period and is valued at $38 million. Tauri will help realize CBED’s operational strategy to integrate DHS capabilities, detect and respond to chemical and biological terrorism, ensure system interoperability and provide consistent consequence management guidance.




Canadian-based Visual Defence Inc., of Richmond Hill, ON, announced it was awarded a contract to provide a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) passenger safety and security screening system at the principal airport of an unnamed African country. The contract is worth between $140 and $250 million. Visual Defence subsidiary AviSecure will oversee project management and general airport security administration under that contract.



BAE Systems, of Reston, VA, has been selected by the Defense Advanced Research Projects agency (DARPA) to create advanced software development tools and processes that help adopt large-scale software systems to address emerging threats such as asymmetric warfare. The initial contract is valued at $3.4 million, and includes a $3.4 million option for a second phase.



Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced it had awarded a $6.6 million contract to Special Operations Group, Inc., of Woodbridge, VA, to provide security guard services at its Reston, VA, facilities.



Digital Ally, Inc., of Overland Park, KS, announced it received an international order valued at $5.1 million for its DVM-500 in-car digital video systems integrated into rearview mirrors. The DVM-500 is widely used for law enforcement, homeland security and commercial security applications.
