Contracts: Reveal Imaging wins $2.5 M baggage screening technology development contract

The Department of Homeland Security has awarded Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc., of Bedford, MA, a $2.5 million contract to develop a baggage screening system which offers significantly reduced false alarms. The 24-month contract, issued by the Technical Support Working Group, calls for Reveal Imaging to develop a hardware and software platform, incorporating quality enhancements and a new carbon nanotube X-ray source for Computed Tomography (CT)-based explosive detection systems.



DHS awarded $2.2 million to the Virginia Center for Policing Innovation and the Western Community Policing Institute, of Richmond, VA, to develop and deliver a national training program for executive-level leaders charged with homeland security responsibilities.



Durham Scientific Crystals, Ltd., of Sedgefield, UK, has been awarded a grant of $700,000 by Britain’s Home Office and other government departments to develop a revolutionary automatic explosives detector for use in airport baggage examinations, incorporating the company’s compound semiconductor technology. The grant reflects the determination of several European governments to improve air and rail passenger baggage screening systems.



Customs and Border Protection has awarded Avalon Technology, Inc., of Arlington, VA, a $15 million contract to perform network cabling installation and design. If all options are exercised, the contract has a value of $75 million.



The Department of Veterans Affairs chose Data Systems Analysts, of Fairfax, VA, to head up a team to perform FISMA reviews at over 600 VA sites under a multi-year, $3.4 million contract.
