Tracking detainees and vehicles by GPS and RFID

The folks at Immigration & Custom Enforcement’s Office of Detention and Removal are thinking about installing satellite-based global positioning systems in the vehicles they use to transport ICE’s detainees, in order to keep better track of the detainees and the vehicles. Part of that tracking system might someday include RFID tags attached to individual prisoners.

The U.S. Air Force is seeking sources to provide security services at the 45th Space Wing at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS), in Florida. Contractors sought must provide full security force services at CCAFS as well as its associated Eastern Range Florida Annexes. Biz Opps: Navy seeks IED detection system information

November 26th, 2007

The directed energy technology office at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, in Dahlgren, VA, has issued a sources sought notice requesting information from prospective vendors about their abilities to detect improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The Dahlgren Division wants to identify systems that can detect IEDs at a minimum of 100 meters, which can be installed on or carried on vehicles, that are capable of being fielded in harsh environments and that have automated detection abilities. DARPA envisions long-range "Rapid Eye" surveillance system

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is hoping to develop a state-of-the-art long-range unmanned surveillance and intelligence aircraft that could be carried by rocket from a launching pad in the U.S. to any location in the world, where it could gather vital imagery while loitering overhead for up to seven hours.

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a broad agency announcement on behalf of the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA), calling for white papers on weapons of mass destruction (WMD) detection systems. The agency is seeking to accelerate advances in miniaturized biological and chemical sensing (e.g., laboratories on a chip) to expand coverage and realize greater WMD protection for the nation. Sophisticated surveillance planned for DC rail corridor

The Department of Homeland Security, which has procured a slew of video surveillance and remote sensing equipment to monitor the miles of railroad tunnels and tracks leading into and out of Washington, DC, is now looking for a contractor to engineer and install that equipment.
