Biz Opps: DOE is offering the Wireless Sentinel

The Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory is offering interested companies the opportunity to license, develop and commercialize a new technology, commonly called the Wireless Sentinel, to ensure secure, encrypted wireless communications and financial transactions. The Wireless Sentinel system can be configured differently for corporations, military or mobile commerce users. For systems installed for national or corporate security purposes, an organization can use the Wireless Sentinel to detect a compromised or unauthorized cell phone and alert security officers or surveillance systems. The system also secures designated use areas – detecting unauthorized cell phones and permitting only authorized wireless devices to operate in the zone. License rights may be issued on an exclusive or nonexclusive basis and may include specific fields of use. Response deadline is Sept. 30, 2008. For additional information, contact at 208-526-1113.

These MFOs will be utilized to provide oversight and control of the Secure Border Initiative project by CBP’s field office personnel and contractors within the southwest border area of operations. Biz Opps: ICE looking for Miami-area detention facility

The Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) unit is seeking a qualified source to provide an existing contractor-owned detention facility within 50 miles of the DHS/ICE Miami field office, located at 865 SW 78th Avenue, Plantation, FL. The facility will accommodate up to 700 non-criminal alien detainees, along with additional capacity to house up to 10 percent of the maximum population in a special segregation housing unit. The facility will need to be operational and capable of accepting detainees by April 1, 2009. The contractor will be responsible for all personnel, management, equipment, supplies and services necessary for performance of all aspects of the contract. Response date is Aug. 14, 2008. Biz Opps: TSA looking to set fitness standards for Air Marshal Service

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is seeking education and training services to confirm relevant physical job tasks necessary to accomplish the Office of Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (OLE/FAMS) mission, and to determine job-performance physical fitness standards and minimum requirements. The end product of the TSA solicitation will be used by FAMS management in conjunction with FAMS training officers to develop recruitment screening, a basic fitness training program for recruits, a recurrent training program for the OLE/FAMS, a process for measuring a given FAM’s level of fitness and a fitness standard for making employment decisions.
