Biz Opps: DHS seeks anti-IED devices and technologies

The Department of Homeland Security’s science and technology directorate is seeking interested parties to help develop effective methods, devices and technologies to prevent and mitigate terrorist and criminal deployment of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The agency wants sources to help develop prototype solutions to immobilize a potential suicide bomber and control the space occupied by that bomber. Sources with relevant approaches and complete concept ideas will be encouraged to proceed with DHS S&T through the Long Range BAA 08-01. Contact , contracting officer, at 202-254-6677. The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking consultants to assist with a security related study covering the Coast Guard’s Delaware Bay sector. The federally-funded effort is being undertaken following congressional authorization for DHS to provide a supplemental grant of $6 million to undertake this task. The Coast Guard is facilitating this effort through its Area Maritime Security Committee. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) seeks security guard services for the Federal Protective Service to protect four facilities in Washington, DC; Arlington, VA; and Stafford, VA. ICE anticipates awarding a single indefinite quantity/indefinite delivery type contract, consisting of one 12-month base followed by four 12-month option periods. The U.S. Secret Service needs sign language interpretation services to accommodate deaf/hard-of-hearing employees, applicants and visitors. The sign language interpreter must be available on a part-time basis, at Secret Service headquarters and at other sites within the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Local travel to be the responsibility of contractor. Initial base period is slated to run from April 1 through September 30, 2008, with four one-year option periods.
