Biz Opps: Navy seeks IED detection system information

The directed energy technology office at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, in Dahlgren, VA, has issued a sources sought notice requesting information from prospective vendors about their abilities to detect improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The Dahlgren Division wants to identify systems that can detect IEDs at a minimum of 100 meters, which can be installed on or carried on vehicles, that are capable of being fielded in harsh environments and that have automated detection abilities. The office of investigations with the Immigration & Customs Enforcement unit of DHS has a need for contract support for the Status Violator Analysis and Lead Generation Team. ICE wants to retain a task leader, a senior applications programmer, another programmer, five project specialists and 33 administrative analysts for a one-year period, plus two one-year options. "Status violators" are individuals whose authorized stay in the United States has expired. Vendor offers are due no later than November 29. Contact at 202-616-8138.



Customs and Border Protection (CBP) wants to find an 8(a) small business contractor whose bona fide place of business is within West Virginia to oversee the Phase III construction of CBP’s Advanced Training Center in Harpers Ferry, WV. The training center is a state-of-the-art facility where CBP and other law enforcement officers learn advanced firearms and defensive tactics to manage difficult situations encountered on their jobs. The science and technology directorate within DHS has announced two new broad agency announcements for its Rapid Technology Application Program: a communications effort involving "Satellite Blue Force Tracking" and a maritime safety initiative involving a "Passenger Ship Mass Evacuation System." This program envisions working prototypes within six to 18 months of contract award. The General Services Administration (GSA) is looking for a contractor to construct a security entrance and screening station in the lobby of the Sidney L. Christie Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Huntington, WV. Estimated construction cost is between $100,000 and $250,000. The RFP is expected to be released on or about November 26.
