U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued technical specifications for what it sees as a "Conveyance Security Device" (CSD) that would be able to detect any intrusion through the rear door of a cargo container while it was being transported along the global supply chain.
FCC hopes for $10 billion from 700MHz auction January 24th

The Federal Communications Commission has announced the date, January 24, 2008, and the bidding procedures for a massive auction of more than a thousand broadcast licenses in the 700 MHz band expected to yield more than $10 billion to Uncle Sam. This includes a portion of that spectrum reserved specifically for public safety purposes which is expected to sell for at least $1.3 billion.
Tracking detainees and vehicles by GPS and RFID

The folks at Immigration & Custom Enforcement’s Office of Detention and Removal are thinking about installing satellite-based global positioning systems in the vehicles they use to transport ICE’s detainees, in order to keep better track of the detainees and the vehicles. Part of that tracking system might someday include RFID tags attached to individual prisoners.
