Ever wonder what supplies might be found inside a "First Responder Bag" used by Customs and Border Protection?

It turns out CBP is planning to procure 3,000 such first responder bags, made of red nylon, measuring 10 inches high by 20 inches wide by 15 inches deep, which will contain the following:

1 Cardiopulmonary resuscitation mask
1 Disposable airway kit
1 Nasopharyngeal airway kit
1 Burn sheet
1 Burn pad
16 Adhesive bandages
30 Sterile dressings
1 Stethoscope kit
1 Obstetrical kit
1 Biohazard coveralls
1 Safety glasses
1 Insta-Glucose
10 Alcohol prep pads
1 Antibiotic ointment
1 Bee sting kit
2 Cold packs
1 Eye wash
10 Povidone-Iodine
1 Space blanket
1 Instant antiseptic hand cleanser
6 Pair of nitrile gloves
1 Tool set (containing shears, Kelly forceps, bandage scissors, splinter forceps and a light).

The contents of the bags certainly suggest a high-risk, high-tempo life for CBP agents.

About two-thirds of the bags are destined for the Southwest border areas. The remainder will be shipped to CBP’s northern and coastal border sectors.

Offers will be conducted through FedBid.com as an online competitive reverse auction.
