CBP wants to withhold videotapes of its secondary inspections

DHS has proposed new rules that would allow Customs and Border Protection not to disclose certain closed circuit television video tapes which CBP agents had made of people undergoing secondary inspection in a U.S. port of entry, following an incident or disturbance.

Canaveral Port Authority picks NICE IP-based video surveillance system

Contract - The Canaveral Port Authority, billed as the second busiest cruise port in the world and located in Brevard County, FL, is upgrading its security with a NiceVision Net IP video surveillance system from Ra'anana, Israel-based Nice Systems.

The NiceVision system, which will replace an analog system now in place, includes network video recorders, encoders, a virtual matrix for video wall management and the NiceVision control center.

Lorex introduces Easy Connect iPhone-compatible network IP camera

New product - Baltimore, MD-based Lorex Technology Inc. has unveiled its model LNE3003 Easy Connect network IP camera, which allows users to remotely monitor their homes and businesses through a password-protected connection.

The Easy Connect is compatible with 3G mobile devices, including the Apple iPhone and the iPod Touch.

3VR Security integrates with Digital Monitoring products

Searchable surveillance - San Francisco, CA-based 3VR Security, Inc., a searchable surveillance specialist, and Digital Monitoring Products (DMP), an intrusion and access control specialist, of Springfield, MO, are integrating certain of their products.

A goal of the integration, according to the companies, is to reduce false alarms by intrusion systems.

LEAC wires two law enforcement agencies

Contract - Raleigh, NC-based Law Enforcement Associates Corp. (LEAC), which characterizes itself as the largest U.S. developer and manufacturer of undercover surveillance equipment, has received orders for its undercover body wires from two domestic law enforcement agencies.

In addition, LEAC received an order for multiple Smith & Wesson-branded Swift under-vehicle inspection systems from a major U.S.-based military installation. Value of the combined orders is approximately $150,000, the company said.

OnSSI products now will reach D-Link's customers

Corporate - Pearl River, NY-based On-Net Surveillance Systems, Inc. (OnSSI), the provider of non-proprietary, open architecture intelligent IP-based video surveillance software, is partnering with Fountain Valley, CA-based global network connectivity specialist D-Link Systems, Inc., to deliver OnSSI's IP-based video software solutions to D-Link's customer base.

D-Link will offer its customers two software platforms from OnSSI – ProSight, for small/medium-scale single-server applications, and NetDVR, for medium-scale single-server applications, to allow users to manage, record and monitor single-site network video recorder (NVR) IP surveillance camera systems.

SightLogix names David Frampton director of government programs

Most recently, according to a company statement, Frampton was a sales/business development specialist in the Cisco Systems emerging technologies group, overseeing commercial and enterprise teams in 16 states and Canada.
