"Eco-terrorist" sentenced to 78 months in federal prison

A 34-year-old man was sentenced by a U.S. district judge on Aug. 12 to six-and-a-half years in federal prison for his role in two eco-terrorism-related arsons that occurred in Oregon in 2001.

Tre Arrow, formerly known as Michael Scarpitti, has acknowledged setting fire to cement-mixing trucks at Ross Island Sand and Gravel Company in Portland in April 2001, and to logging trucks at Schoppert Logging Company in Eagle Creek two months later, to protest what he considered to be excessive logging in the area.
