Success Story: Mexapixel cameras lead to quick arrests

The Problem:
The cameras used in legacy CCTV systems in many government offices and retail establishments do not provide sufficient resolution of subjects, even just 50 feet away, to enable law enforcement agencies to make positive identifications of suspected burglars, intruders or other perpetrators.
The Solution:
The installation of IQinVision megapixel cameras at a jewelry store in Pennsylvania by Access Security Corp., an integrator based in Warminster, PA, was more successful. In a recent incident, a man allegedly stole a $47,000 engagement ring from the jewelry store. The man, who spent more than two hours in the store, was able to palm an engagement ring while the salesperson was busy putting away multiple rings he had already viewed.
A few months prior to the incident, Access Security had upgraded the jewelry store’s standard resolution camera system with IQeye megapixel cameras and an Exacq Technologies DVR.
The upgraded surveillance system caught the entire crime on video. That evening, Access Security was called to help retrieve the video. After positively identifying the man stealing the ring, Access Security exported the video to a CD for the police department and created a still photo for the local newspapers. After the picture appeared in the local papers, it took only two days for the police to apprehend the suspect. The owner of the jewelry store was impressed. "With our old CCTV system, we would not have been able to catch this guy and our ring would be gone," the store owner said.
The chief deputy district attorney was quoted saying the video was "critical" to the arrest.
"We’ve been saying it for some time now, megapixel is now mainstream," said Pete DeAngelis, IQinVision’s president and CEO. "When end users truly understand the full range of benefits and the favorable total cost of ownership for megapixel technology over CCTV, they invariably choose IQinVision."
In another incident, at a southern Florida branch of one of the nation’s largest casual dining chains, staff and customers were subjected to a high number of car thefts and break-ins in the restaurant’s parking lot. The legacy CCTV system’s analog cameras weren’t doing the trick.
Another systems integrator, NAVCO, of Anaheim, CA, installed IQeye Sentinel cameras to cover the parking lot in forensic detail resolution.
When a patron’s car was broken into, the video was retrieved, the police were called and within days the alleged perpetrator had been apprehended. "It’s like two different worlds, the IQ video is so crisp and clear, we could see the make and model of the perpetrator’s car from 100 yards away," reported Lee Brazzel, of NAVCO. "With CCTV analog cameras, we would have been lucky if we could tell a pickup from a sedan! I’ve been looking at analog images for 20 years, there just isn’t any comparison -- the IQeye images are amazing."
