In a videotaped interview now available on the Web site of GSN: Government Security News, GovSec Show Director Kristina Tanasichuk shared some insights about plans which 1105 Media, the new owner of the show, has for this year’s event, which will occur at the Washington Convention Center on April 21-23.

Tanasichuk indicated that the event, as in the past, will offer a full menu of security topics from prevention to disaster recovery, but this year, she said, the focus will be on assuring that visitors spend plenty of time on the show floor. Toward this end, the keynote speeches, a free educational pavilion and the traditional Patriot Reception will all take place on the convention floor.

In two special highlights of the show, Marina Litvinenko, wife of the murdered Victor Lttvinenko will address the subject of state sponsored terrorism, and Greg Pirro, the FBI special agent who interrogated Saddam Hussein six months before he was hanged, will describe what it was like to interrogate the former dictator.

Tanasichuk was equally enthusiastic about the keynote speakers, who include Julie Myers, assistant secretary for Homeland Security - Immigration and Customs and Enforcement; Lauri Almann, permanent undersecretary for Defense for the Republic of Estonia (whose IT infrastructure was incapacitated for three days in the first-ever successful cyber attack on a country); and Gregory Cade, assistant administrator, U.S. Fire Administration.

Tanasichuk pointed out that 1105 Media expects to keep GovSec as a triple show, including the "U.S.Law" and "Ready!" components, in order to cover all disciplines in government security.
