CBP tightens Alaska Border: E-manifests go mandatory

FUSION CENTER - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the state’s Office of Homeland Security are teaming up to build a new information collection center. It is part of the state’s Fusion Center effort, to improve information sharing and expedite the time critical need for information to prevent terrorism or apprehend criminals. There are currently Fusion Centers in 43 states. The Tennessee facility will cost $1 million and is expected to be fully operational in 18 months.
DHS REFUGEE CHECK - Syria has agreed to let U.S. Department of Homeland Security staff screen Iraqi refugees in Syria while they await clearance to enter the U.S. Syria is home to more than 1.2 million Iraqi refugees. The U.S. has pledged to admit 12,000 of those refugees. The agreement is expected to expedite application processing.
