As the nationwide roll-out continues for TSA’s Transportation Worker Identification Credential, also known as the TWIC card, the Port of Guam is coming up to bat. This Pacific port will begin its TWIC enrollment period on Sept. 4, according to a recent TSA announcement.

"This rule requires all credentialed merchant mariners and individuals with unescorted access to secure areas of a regulated facility or vessel to obtain a TWIC," explained the Federal Register notice posted Aug. 27.

The Port Authority of Guam operates the largest U.S. deep-water port in the Western Pacific. The Authority was established as an autonomous agency of the Government of Guam in 1975 and currently handles about two million tons of cargo a year.
