New Products: Napco intros new GT Series hardwire/wireless fire alarm systems

Napco Security Systems Express GT Series Hardwire/Wireless Systems provide end-users with highly crafted, feature rich keypads. Two highly advanced GT express systems now available are the XP-400 and XP 600 models. The XP400 provides up to four feature-rich hardwired/wireless zones. When used with a GEM-RECVXP8 receiver, the control panel can support up to four wireless zones and two keyfobs. The XP600 wireless unit supports up to two Gemini wireless receivers and provides support for up to four keyfobs. The XP-600 also features a 2-Wire Fire Zone that supports four wireless Gemini Smoke Detectors.

New Products: PacStar 6000 series IP communications unveiled at FOSE

Portland, OR-based PacStar, in a collaborative effort with the Unified Communications division of Cisco, announced the release of the PacStar 6000 series of Unified Communications (UC) Enterprise and Deployable solutions. The new products, in tandem with the 6300 and 6800 series, are designed to deliver IP-based voice, video and data communications to U.S. forces around the world, in compliance with new specifications to move to Everything over IP (EoIP), as mandated by the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). The new solutions could also have applications for large homeland security and law enforcement agencies. The PacStar 6000 series is based on Cisco Unified Communications systems that have been enhanced with PacStar's patented IQ Software, which provides a unified, easy to use interface that automates and simplifies routine, time-consuming and difficult tasks. The new systems are housed in PacStar's IQ-Core case, a ruggedized case housing and tray structure that is designed to meet Military Standard 810F requirements for transportation, vibration, shock and temperature.

New Products: IntelliVision launches intelligent video product line

IntelliVision, of San Jose, CA, announced the launch of its packaged intelligent video products, designed to take into account the channels’ requests for highly scalable intelligent video products. The company announced it will ship hardware with pre-installed software, enabling users to deploy these products with very little effort. The package includes camera tamper detector, face detector and search, video panorama, video stabilizer and IntelliSearch, which enables rapid real-time or forensic video search.

New Products: Leica ScanStation makes TV drama debut

The Leica Geosystems ScanStation, a state-of-the-art forensic 3D laser scanner, made its cable TV debut on "Fatal Feud," the latest episode of A&E’s new hit real-life criminal justice series, Crime 360. Investigators in the series use the new 3D laser scanning technology to help solve the death of a gun shot victim. Leica 3D laser scanning technology is designed to support shooting reconstruction.

New Products: Milestone license reader platform adds analytics

Milestone Systems, a global developer of open platform IP video software, announced the release of XProtect Analytics License Plate Recognition (LPR). XProtect detects, reads and stores license plate information from a digital video stream. The license plate information is then checked against the system that determines which actions are initiated automatically, such as opening a gate barrier for specific cars or sending an alarm. It is designed to control vehicle access, as in traffic surveillance and law enforcement, toll and parking management, gas stations, transportation or any other application where there is a need for registration, recognition and detection of vehicle license plates.

Vicon Industries Inc., of Hauppauge, NY, will shortly unveil its newest digital video management software, ViconNet 5.0. The program combines the power of ViconNet with open platform flexibility, allowing for easy integration with most major IP camera manufacturers, such as Panasonic, Bosch, Sony, Arecont Vision, ACTi, Axis and IQinVision. ViconNet 5.0 will also introduce support for megapixel cameras, the seamless integration of ViconNet VI Video Intelligence within the ViconNet interface, support for the ViconNet GUI on 16:9 displays and maps for the Virtual Matrix Controller.

New Products: Off The Wall releases new K 12 barrier options

Off The Wall Products, LLC, of Salt Lake City, UT, introduced a new K12/L3 fixed bollard, capable of stopping a 15,000-pound vehicle traveling at 50 mph. L3 is the highest rating accorded by the Department of State. The bollard is also cost effective, because it is made from standard off-the-shelf components, including square steel I-beams. The State Department-certified bollard has an 18-inch foundation which can be installed in as little as two days and be effective in one week.

(ISC)2, a non-profit information security education association based in Palm Harbor, FL, has released its 2008 Resource Guide for Today’s Information Security Professional, Global Edition. The 132-page handbook, initially published for the U.S. Government in 2004, provides resource listings for security-focused professional organizations. It has been upgraded and covers resources for both government and private sector IT professionals.
