Contracts: NIH awards $14 million for anti-anthrax drug development

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the National Institutes of Health, have awarded PharmAthene, Inc., of Annapolis, MD, and Medarex, of Princeton, NJ, a contract valued at up to $13.9 million to develop the drug Valortim for use as an anti-toxin to prevent and treat inhalation anthrax infection. With this contract, which will be incrementally funded through 2009, total government funding committed to Valortim exceeds $24 million.



Stanley, Inc., of Arlington, VA, was awarded a three-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with a $225 million ceiling, to support U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, for the administration of immigration and naturalization adjudication functions.



Spartan Chassis, Inc., of Charlotte, MI, has received a $52 million subcontract order from Force Protection, Inc., of Ladson, SC, to support the production of the latter’s Cougar series of advanced tactical wheeled vehicles.



The U.S. Navy contracting office at Pearl Harbor, HI, has signed a contract for security systems, valued at $158,507, with Pacific Security Alarm Inc., of Tamuning, Guam.



The Treasury Department awarded Kell Systems, Inc., of Berea, OH, a contract to purchase technical surveillance equipment, valued at $34,365.
