USB portable security - Santa Ana, CA-based MXI Security has introduced the Stealth MXP and Stealth MXP Passport, two 16-gigabyte-capacity USB portable security devices. According to the company, the Stealth MXP has received FIPS 140-2 Level 2 validation (Certificate number 987), making it the first and only USB portable security device able to protect up to 16GB of data with AES 256-bit hardware encryption and strong authentication (biometric, password or both). Both Stealth versions can be used as a portable desktop, and each device can accommodate up to five users.

Sensor processing software - Leica Geosystems, of St. Gallen, Switzerland, and North West Group, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, have collaborated to develop an enhanced workflow for airborne digital line sensors, such as the Leica ADS. The collaboration builds on Leica’s GPro line sensor workflow and North West’s proprietary ADS Pixelgrammetry workflow. The new collaborative workflow, named Leica XPro, will be an enhanced processing system for push-broom line-scanning airborne sensors. According to the company, Leica XPro, which is scheduled for a fall release, generates stereo-viewable images or high-resolution orthophotos and is designed to deliver extremely quickly with minimal user interaction.

A guide to lawful intercept - Milpitas, CA-based SS8 Networks, Inc., which provides voice and data electronic surveillance installations that are employed in more than 25 countries, has published an online guide to lawful intercept. Its Ready Guide to Intercept Legislation 2 contains 84 pages of intercept legislation from 31 different countries, with specific attention paid to personal privacy issues, responsibilities of carriers, accountability to national law-making bodies and cost-recovery mechanisms. The guide is designed to serve as a reference for those in the surveillance industry.
