Atlanta, GA – March 21, 2016. Superior Essex announces the launch of its EnduraLite™ Indoor/Outdoor Loose Tube optical fiber cable. Robust and flexible, the EnduraLite cable is uniquely designed to handle tough weather conditions in applications that require a transition of optical fiber between indoor and outdoor environments. EnduraLite improves on existing I/O fiber cable designs by offering increased environmental protection and dry water-blocking elements, as well as easier handling and installation. EnduraLite cables are available in plenum and riser-rated designs, and meet all ICEA 696 requirements.
The EnduraLite cable, available in plenum and riser-rated single and multi-unit designs, consists of one or several 3 mm subunits stranded around a central strength element. Each of these subunits incorporates the latest in dry water-blocking technology, which eliminates the need to clean off the traditional gel-based water-blocking compounds, and is surrounded by aramid yarns, allowing the subunit to be crimped directly onto an MTP® or MPO connector. The 3mm subunits are stranded around a central strength element that is both sturdy and flexible, and jacketed in either PVC for the riser design or PVDF for the plenum design. PVDF is naturally sunlight and moisture resistant, offering additional protection from sun exposure and water ingress. With its smooth surface and proportionately low coefficient of friction, PVDF jacketing is easier to handle and pull, reducing the time and labor required for installation. Plenum designs with PVDF jacketing are available in multiple! color options. Both the plenum and riser designs are UL Listed Sunlight Resistant.

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla., March 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- RELM Wireless Corporation (NYSE MKT: RWC) today announced that Alberta Health Services (AHS) has extended the term of its contract for an additional four years. Under the contract RELM provides AHS with P25 800MHz portable and mobile radios and accessories.
The contract, which was initially announced in June 2015, established a base-term of one year that commenced on March 12, 2015, as well as four one-year options. The base term expires this month, and AHS has elected to exercise its option for all four available years. No minimum or maximum procurement is established under the contract, nor does the contract specify or guarantee purchase quantities or dates of equipment orders. In the twelve months since contract inception, AHS has purchased radios and related accessories from RELM totaling approximately $2.6 million, including a recent order on March 14, 2016 totaling approximately $568,000.
AHS provides health services throughout Alberta and is the largest provider of health care in Canada. The organization presently deploys a total of approximately 3,000 two-way radios in a range of applications such as hospitals, urgent care centers, psychiatric facilities and emergency vehicles.

London, March 17 - Leave.EU, made up of six British politicians across a range of parties, have written a personal appeal to the President of the United States, Barack Obama, calling on him to refrain from entering the UK's EU referendum debate when he next visits the UK.
The five MPs, Peter Bone (Conservative), Kate Hoey (Labour), Kelvin Hopkins (Labour), Tom Pursglove (Conservative) and Sammy Wilson (Democratic Unionist Party), together with MEP and UKIP leader Nigel Farage, are all active in campaigning with Grassroots Out and Leave.EU for the UK to withdraw from the European Union. Their letter joint said,
"With so much at stake, it is imperative that the question of exiting the European Union is not one answered by foreign politicians or outside interests, but rather by the British people who must ultimately live with change or the status quo.
"The British politicians declared that 'issues of national sovereignty must be decided exclusively by the people of the United Kingdom' and suggested 'even a passive diplomatic recommendation in the matter of our national decision will receive the opposite of the intended effect.'
"The referendum vote is an act of democracy in its most direct form, and the question of whether or not to leave the EU is a rare political topic that is not owned by any one political party. This is a chance for the British people to choose the path of their country. Interfering in our debate over national sovereignty would be an unfortunate milestone at the end of your term as President."
The open letter is being published in three journals that reach US politicians in Washington DC – Politico, Weekly Standard and Roll Call – with hard copies delivered to all Members of Congress in the Senate and House of Representatives as well as to the White House itself and Cabinet Offices located within the administrative Beltway.
Commenting about the letter, Kate Hoey, MP, said,
"We felt it is important the President of the United States is aware that feelings will run high in the UK if he chooses to make an intervention. We have chosen to respectfully request he recognises matters of sovereignty are best left to the citizens directly affected. We would certainly never think of visiting the United States and telling the US public how to vote in an election or the amendment of their constitution."

"Whatever the President perceives the interests of the US to be it would be better for the relationship between our countries and his reputation with the British people if he kept his counsel to himself."

It is a vote of profound consequence that will decide whether matters of economics, trade, and security are best handled in conjunction with the broad needs of twenty eight member states or the direct concerns of the people of the United Kingdom.
With so much at stake, it is imperative that the question of exiting the European Union is not one answered by foreign politicians or outside interests, but rather by the British people who must ultimately live with change or the status quo.
The benefits of a truly independent United Kingdom begin with the optimistic prospects of a country that can thrive without the obstacles of tariffs and trade restrictions imposed by distant and unaccountable bureaucrats; but also include the responsible and respectable handling of our country's border policy amidst the ongoing migrant crisis.
Faced with a vote of "Leave" or "Remain" the approaching referendum also puts the matter of national destiny in the hands of the citizenship: Are we better served tethered to the needs and restrictions of the European Union or would an amicable break from the EU permit a surge in industry and innovation that would further bolster the UK as an economic force?
In the coming months the British public will evaluate the merits of a "Leave" or "Remain" vote and issues of national sovereignty must be decided exclusively by the people of the United Kingdom.
While it is understandable that a sitting US president feels the obligation to speak in the interest of the United States, it must be advised that even a passive diplomatic recommendation in the matter of our national decision will receive the opposite of the intended effect.

As disaster recovery professionals, understanding the importance of planning to ensure business operations continue in the face of disaster is not just a one-time activity, but rather a process of continuous improvement and change. One of the more critical components of response and recovery is ensuring government operations continue. This is not only critical for first responders, but vital to support efforts to ensure the economy of the county continues during and after an event. Jim McClelland will discuss how Montgomery County agencies and departments develop Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP), and how these plans are maintained and tested. He’ll provide details of OEMHS’s role with these plans, and how these not only support this process, but also enable business and local services to leverage the continuity best practices in their own plans.
We are all aware that the Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security plays a central role in supporting residents to plan prior to an emergency, react during the event and find resources to recover after the crisis. However, there are many resources available that organization planners may be able to leverage to ensure employees can quickly protect their family and property and return to work. Joe Corona will detail the four tenets of personal preparedness: Getting Informed, Making a Plan, Building a Kit, and Getting Involved. He will present information on how his agency may assist in personal preparedness, discuss the types of emergencies that residents of Montgomery County may face, and guide attendees though steps they can take to leverage this program. Additionally, he will describe opportunities for local businesses to get involved with OEMHS, and how participation will benefit the County and your organization.

Jim McClelland, Emergency Management Specialist. Working in the Planning Section of the County’s Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, his primary responsibilities include overseeing the County’s Continuity of Operations Program (COOP) and enhancing development of the Continuity of Government Plan. Jim also serves as a planner with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Regional Planners Group. A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, he has worked as an Emergency Management Specialist since October 2012. Prior to working for Montgomery County, Jim spent over 30 years developing business continuity programs for medium- to large-sized financial services companies.
Joseph Corona, Outreach Coordinator/ Senior Policy Analyst / AEM. Joe works for the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, supporting preparedness planning efforts for the community and coordinating outreach efforts for the office. He earned a MPA with a concentration in Emergency and Disaster Management and currently holds an Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) designation from the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). Originally from New York, Joe spent two years working for FEMA in the first implementation of the National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF) for the catastrophic event, Hurricane Sandy.
