Incident Communications Solutions unveiled a “Go-Kit” for the Hughes 9450-C11 Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) antenna that allows users more flexible satellite communications links.
ICS’ “BGAN on the move” capability makes BGAN antennas more transportable. Until now, said the company, auto-tracking BGAN antennas were far too big to package into a portable solution.
The system is based on the Hughes 9450-C11, an inexpensive, but competitive mobile terminal, that’s ideal for government, first responders, public safety, mobile healthcare and remote mobile fleet personnel, according to the company. The system provides a global reach for users in the field using Inmarsat's Global L-Band Satellite Network, it said.
With the system, users can connect at IP broadband speeds of up to 464 kbps while stationary or on-the-move using the mobile BGAN terminal. The kit packaging gives users flexibility and protection for the unit while in transit to the incident site for use en-route as a "fly-and-drive" solution, or as an auto-acquire capability at a fixed location, it said. Additionally, the BGAN 9450 Go-Kit uses either 12VDC or AC power.
The Hughes 9450-C11 is a completely automatic acquisition antenna, allowing anyone to deploy the system without having in-depth satellite communications experience, said the company. Used standalone, the 9450 "Go-Kit" provides access to critical information for incident management teams and supports voice and data configurations to keep the incident response moving.
ICS offers a complete turnkey solution package, or as a retrofit to existing 9450 terminal owners. The company said it also has flexible and affordable plans for BGAN services allowing users to get a system that fits operational and budgetary requirements, including customers with existing SIM cards.
