American Science and Engineering, Inc. (“AS&E”), a supplier of X-ray detection technology, announced on Nov. 21 its receipt of an order for four Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV) from an African country for law enforcement applications. This customer, which AS&E did not identify, currently has two ZBV systems in operation, which were purchased last September.
“Since their original deployment less than 2 months ago, the ZBV systems have proven their detection capability to our law enforcement customer,” said Anthony Fabiano, president and CEO. “With these additional ZBV systems, security officials in this leading African nation will have six very powerful and effective tools to inspect cargo and vehicles for explosive threats and contraband. We will work closely with our customer to provide and maintain their growing fleet of ZBV systems.”
AS&E’s Z Backscatter Van is the number one selling non-intrusive mobile inspection system on the market, says a news release issued by the company on Nov. 21. The ZBV system is a highly mobile screening system built into a commercially available delivery van. The ZBV system allows for immediate deployment in response to security threats, and its high throughput capability facilitates rapid inspections.
