New dual-view and large tunnel X-ray systems for air cargo screening from L-3

L-3 Security & Detection Systems (SDS) announced on Nov. 17 that it has added three new dual-view X-ray platforms to its air cargo screening portfolio for inspecting break-bulk freight and skids, as well as larger pallet and “unit load device” (ULD) containers.

“We are pleased to expand our air cargo offerings to include larger tunnels, higher power options and a flexible architecture that enables customers to upgrade their systems as new requirements emerge,” said Thomas Ripp, president of L-3 Security & Detection Systems.

The new systems include the PX 10.10-MV, PX 15.17-MV and PX 18.18-MV. These systems are highly configurable, allowing customers to choose either a dual-view or single-view system that can be later upgraded in the field.

The PX 10.10-MV offers customers superior imaging performance with a low belt height for screening non-palletized freight.

The high-powered PX 15.17-MV and PX 18.18-MV eliminate the need to unpack contents for inspection, accelerating screening of consolidated cargo in skids, pallets and ULDs. Both of these systems are available in 200 kV and 320 kV configurations to achieve best-in-class penetration.

For more than a decade, L-3 SDS has been providing airports and shippers with a conventional and high-energy X-ray line of inspection systems for break-bulk, skids, pallets and ULDs. L-3’s equipment screens cargo ranging from shipments of fruits and vegetables to electronics, and is currently in operation at shipping, forwarding and independent cargo screening facilities worldwide.
