Incident Alert Systems (IAS) of Port Angeles, WA, has been granted patent protection under Canadian Patent # 2,579,823 for its Fast Alert system.
Fast Alert is a computer-enabled, incident warning and management system designed by IAS specifically for direct and immediate communication between teachers, staff and first responders during an emergency situation in which expedient and concise information flow is of the essence, says a press release issued by IAS.
“Whether we are parents, first responders or security product manufacturers, we remain acutely aware of threats to public safety, particularly when it involves our children,” said Tom Reyes, President of Incident Alert Systems. “School violence in Canada and the United States is an unfortunate topic of public concern following recent shocking incidents of student killings by their classmates in both countries. IAS is pleased to have obtained a Canadian Patent that allows Fast Alert to begin being installed in Canadian schools to help curb the effects of violence and other critical incidents by providing real time warning of imminent or in-progress life threatening events.”
The Fast Alert warning system can be installed in several configurations, the most common being integration with an existing intercom system, with a connection to the data network. By utilizing infrastructures already in place, the Fast Alert system can be introduced as a retrofit upgrade at a very low cost, says IAS. It can be activated by cell phone, PDA, tablet computer, laptop or desktop computer; and it supports many wireless platforms.
IAS proprietary software makes available a menu of alert options, including lockdown, evacuation, shelter-in-place and all-clear alarms.
Founded in 2004, Incident Alert Systems strives for the goal of preserving human life and providing a safe and healthy learning environment for children and educators.
